Our Dr. Ali Kennedy is a rare woman. She works harder than anyone I’ve met, she is passionate, caring, and has a warmth that is contagious. Dr. Ali has won awards for her skill in dentistry!! An award-winning, pink-loving, organizing aficionado, Dr. Ali Kennedy lets us in on her life, her wedding, and what its like being a powerful woman!

You recently got married! Congratulations! What was the best part of planning your wedding?
Talking about the wedding plans was my favorite part!  I loved brainstorming ideas for it with people and coming up with my vision for the wedding.

How did you balance your busy work schedule, planning a wedding, and staying healthy and fit?

I came up with a plan and stuck to it!  After work I went straight to the gym (I love the Chillicothe Anytime Fitness) and worked out with my best friend.  We used the Bodyspace app and it was a big help-it’s like having a personal trainer.  If something like being fit is important enough to you, you can always find time for it.

As far as wedding planning goes, I started super early.  I had all the vendors booked a year in advance and even had the cake topper, card box, and table numbers done several months ahead of time.  When you give yourself enough of a head start, you can have a lot more fun planning and focusing on details!

If you could fly anywhere right now, where would you go?

San Francisco to see my sister.  She just moved out there and her pictures look amazing!

What is the secret to your perfect smile?

Well I’m lucky because my dad is a dentist, so I was taught from a young age to take care of my teeth.  I had braces when I was younger but I didn’t wear my retainers so more recently I went through Invisalign.  Having straight teeth helps to naturally keep them more clean.

I use an electric toothbrush and brush my teeth three times a day and floss every night.  The most important part of keeping your teeth healthy is not sipping on sugary drinks for long periods of time throughout the day; this can have a huge negative impact on your smile.

Another important secret to a “perfect” smile, however, is just smiling confidently!

3 tips every bride needs to know?

  1. Start planning and accomplishing things early on. Don’t wait until you only have one month before the wedding or you’re going to be very stressed out. Also, if you wait until the last minute, if you come up with a great idea you may not have time to execute it!
  2. Come up with your own vision for how you want the wedding to look and feel and then stick with it.  Once I did that it was a lot easier to make decisions.  Pinterest has so many different ideas that you could go crazy if you look at all of them not knowing exactly what you want.
  3. Believe in the fact that everything will work out exactly the way it should and enjoy every second of the planning process and wedding day because it goes by fast!

How would your husband describe you?

Energetic, thoughtful, kind, and productive….I’m always making to do lists and I love crossing them off!

How important is your smile on your wedding day? Did you get your teeth whitened?

You’ll be smiling all day long on your wedding day so it’s very important! My awesome assistant, Steph, made me custom bleaching trays in the office.  I only had to bleach twice to get the results I wanted.

Being a woman and an award-winning doctor, how do you empower other women to feel beautiful and confident?

I believe that beauty comes from the inside and that being comfortable in your own skin is the first step to living a beautiful life. Treating others with compassion, believing in them, and building each other up can help inspire confidence in others.

Favorite weekend activity?

Cleaning and organizing my house!  If I weren’t a dentist I would be one of those people on the TLC show about hoarding who cleans out, organizes, and designs houses.  Being productive and feeling like I accomplished something makes me feel so good.

After my house is nice and clean, of course, I love doing activities with friends and family-especially my niece and nephew!

5 things we can always find in your purse?

I hardly ever carry a purse but before I leave the house I always check for the three necessities, and chant: “Keys, phone, wallet.”

Pink or Purple?

Pink. I recently just had an intervention with myself because half of my closet was pink.

Solid or Print?

Print is so much more fun! Floral is my go to.

Barbie or Cabbage Patch Kids?

Barbie-I play with them all the time with my six year old niece. I think Dr. Rich would choose Barbie, too. He was just telling me about playing Epic Weekend Barbie with his niece.

Thank you Dr. Ali Kennedy!
